Making the Most of Your RV Cabinet Space

It’s great to be out on the road with an RV. One of the challenges is that space is limited. Keeping cabinets organized is a great way to maximize the space you do have and allows you to more easily find what you need when you need it. These items/ideas can help you organize your RV cabinets.

Containers

If you’re looking for some containers to organize your RV cabinets, I’d recommend first heading to Dollar Tree or Five Below. They have a variety of reasonably priced small containers. Rope baskets are great for holding fitting into smaller or awkward spaces because of their flexibility. Hard-sided containers with lids are great for stacking. Whether you’re looking for baskets or a plastic container with a lid, you can likely find it at one of these stores.

Kitchen Caddy

I looked long and hard for this kitchen caddy. It is the Goldilocks of caddies: not too big for our cabinet space and not too small for the utensils and plates we wanted to put in it. Previously, we kept our plastic utensils in their cardboard boxes, which meant we had multiple half-full boxes floating around in this cabinet space. Now everything fits nicely into the caddy and it’s even more easily accessible.

Adjustable Mini Shelves

I was so excited to find these mini adjustable shelves! As I was assembling them, I noticed how sturdy they were. They’re perfect for holding smaller items like plastic bags, aluminum foil, and little paper trays. They’re also great for taking advantage of vertical space. Items are neatly stacked on the shelves and the “wire walls” keep them from sliding from side to side off the shelf during travel.

Drawer Organizers

I ordered this package of very narrow drawer organizers for the medicine cabinet in the camper bathroom. This medicine cabinet was a feature I was really excited about for our RV. It was great to be able to store toiletries in the bathroom and not have to worry about packing and unpacking them each time we’d reach a new location. I knew that if I didn’t use some type of organizer my toiletries would be all over the cabinet when we reached our destination. These organizers work really well. We occasionally will have some jumbled up toiletries if we’ve been on a particularly bumpy road, but generally, our items are in the same bins at the end of a drive. They’ve been useful to help organize RV cabinets and drawers in the kitchen area as well.

Paper Towel Holder

This one’s not technically about organizing your RV cabinet, but it can help free up space in your cabinet. We always stuffed our paper towel roll in our kitchen cabinet. Of course, this would take up quite a bit of space and they’d often end up shifting around. This stick-on paper towel holder keeps the paper towels out of the cabinet and more accessible to us. We weren’t 100% sure exactly where we wanted to put the paper towel holder, so we attached it with removable Command strips, and it’s held up well. We’ve had good luck with Command strips in general. I’d highly recommend them for use in the RV.

Storage Cubes

These storage cubes fit perfectly in the closet/cabinet in the bathroom of our RV. The closet has three shelves. We’ve each claimed a shelf and left one for miscellaneous items like sheets, towels, and camp blankets. We treat the cubes like dresser drawers, filling them with clothes. This allows us to keep our clothes neat, organized, and tucked away. We’ve found that we can fit the most clothes in the cubes by first rolling them and then packing them away.

Fridge/Cabinet Tension Rods

Too many times we’ve arrived at our campsite only to open the fridge and have a bunch of food dump out. I stumbled upon these tension rods that help to keep food on the shelves instead of leaning against the door. They aren’t miracle workers. If the road is really bumpy, they still fall off sometimes, but we have found that they often help.
