Helen, Georgia

Helen is a Bavarian-style town in northeastern Georgia with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. We stopped in to eat lunch and explore after hiking in the morning at Tallulah Gorge State Park. We ate lunch at Brickhouse Burgers, Pizza, and Pasta across from Unicoi Hill Park.

After filling up on some delicious strombolis, we explored the town. Our first stop was Unicoi Hill Park since it was basically across the street from the restaurant. This park has a picturesque gazebo, a small waterfall, and a short walking path.

From the park, we headed deeper into the town. Right along the main street, there are souvenir shops, restaurants, ice cream shops, and more. The Chattahoochee River runs right through town. You can take steps down from the main street to the river. I’ve read that you can also tube down this river, but it was a little chilly at the time of our visit and the river was likely too high.

Further down the main street there are other activities like mini-golf. We drove just outside of town to Habersham Winery for a wine tasting. There were several wineries in the area. Click here to visit the Helen, GA website.

Helen was about an hour from our campground. We were staying at Morganton Point Campground outside of Blue Ridge, GA. This was a great location for exploring northern Georgia.
