A blurred vision of water passing by in a creek

Greenough Lake Campground

Greenough Lake Campground was the perfect basecamp for us for exploring the Beartooth Highway. We were towing our 20-foot travel trailer, so we wanted to have a campground nearby to unhook and set up camp. This allowed us to drive the Beartooth Highway trailer-free. The campground was beautiful! It was surrounded by mountains and our spacious site backed up to Rock Creek. I love hearing the sound of a nearby creek from my campsite! It was a rustic campground without hookups. We were fine for two nights here with a full tank of fresh water and our solar/battery set-up.

On multiple occasions, we did see a mother bear and her cubs in the woods just outside the campground. It’s definitely a location to remain bear aware and keep all food/scented items closed up and put away when not in use.
